Can you believe we’ve officially entered the holiday season? Along with the cold weather comes our Giving with Purpose List.
The MORWM family worked hard this year to compile this list, because we want to make sure that we give you fresh and new ideas. As always, many of these companies are certified B-Corps and they all give back to the community in some way. You will see that this year’s list is targeted towards comforting and stay-at-home appropriate gifts to give to your loved ones, since this giving season is a bit different from others.
Here are our top ten picks for 2020:
Thread Talk
Thread Talk sells high-quality knitted blankets and other cozy products. What makes Thread Talk special is its founder, Hannah Kay Herdlinger. Hannah is a domestic violence survivor, and she created Thread Talk specifically to help others in the same position as her. Profits made from Thread Talk are used to fund shelters and survivors.
Rescue Chocolate - Certified B Corporation
Since it’s 2020, we thought everyone could use a little sweetness in their life - and what’s better than chocolate during the holiday season? Rescue Chocolate is special because they make amazing chocolate bars and donate 100% of their net profit to animal shelters all around the country.
Numi Tea - Certified B Corporation
We are definitely going with a “comfort” theme for this year. Numi Tea provides fair wages to all of their farmers. They ensure that their farmers have the means to provide for their families by providing them with household products. They have also been providing food to those who are affected by COVID-19 and are living in third world countries.
Alter Eco Chocolate
Yes, you saw that right - another chocolate option! Alter Eco specializes in chocolate bars and truffles. The chocolate is resourced sustainably, they always use compostable packaging, and they re-plant cacao trees where their beans are grown.
4 Ocean - Certified B Corporation
4 Ocean is committed to cleaning the ocean. Each product sold allows them to remove 1lb of trash from the ocean, and helps fund their education, awareness, advocacy, and research programs. Their products are made with the plastic recovered from their clean-up efforts.
Families Belong Together
The non-profit organization Families Belong Together is selling “coloring without borders” coloring books. They will donate the proceeds from the books to help kids who have been separated from their parents to reunite with them.
UNICEF
This holiday season, UNICEF is offering a beautiful hand-blown glass pitcher. The glass reveals a colorful confetti pattern that will brighten up any kitchen. Each purchase provides 27 doses of the measles vaccine to children.
Thistle Farms
These days, who can go wrong with gifting hand soap? Every purchase of this scented hand soap and lotion combo goes towards supporting Thistle Farms, a non-profit social enterprise that helps provide safe, supportive housing and jobs for female survivors of sexual abuse.
REI
When you need a gift for an outdoor enthusiast, make REI your first stop. Not only does this company have an extensive selection of products (like this cozy fleece blanket), but they also invest in organizations that protect public lands.
ROMA
Not only will these rain boots keep your feet dry, but they also come in 10 different colors and patterns. For every pair of Roma boots sold, a brand-new pair of rain boots is donated to a child living in poverty.
